- The offence was committed in 1987, when Davey stole into his victim's offices at the end of the working day, hid behind a pillar and then attacked his victim, strangling her while threatening to kill her unless she stopped screaming.
He was arrested after forensic tests on his clothing by cold case review officers (reviewing unsolved crimes) confirmed his connection to the offence.
Davey has already served a term for a rape that he perpetrated 40 days after the earlier attack.
