- She pleaded guilty to robbery, theft and possession of a knife in a public place in Ilfracombe, Devon, on 19 November 2012. She followed her 63-year-old victim from a cashpoint and grabbed her purse before running off. When she was arrested, police discovered a four inch knife in her bag. She was also sentenced for an offence of theft committed from South Devon magistrates court.
The judge said: "You mugged a lady and stole her purse containing about £250 and it is clear you had been watching her withdrawing the money from her bank and to that extent you targeted her. You went into an alley off the High Street and grabbed hold of her bag and there was a struggle. With great spirit Mrs Sarsfield held onto her handbag and in doing so she damaged her thumb or finger. She was extremely shocked, as you would expect, and you threw a lot of the money in the air but retained some of it and it was not long before you were apprehended." - Case Timeline
