- He was found guilty of manslaughter (diminished responsibility) in Weybridge, Surrey, on 21 May 2016. He was found not guilty of murder. He was suffering from depression when his wife asked him for a divorce. He attacked her in their home using an axe and a knife to inflict more than 120 wounds. His victim suffered head and neck injuries and died at the scene.
The judge said: "It was a brutal and sustained attack... You and your wife had argued the day before about divorce... You took her phone from her, clearly to stop her from using it to tell her family about the divorce... there is a significant risk of you causing serious harm to the public, in particular any future intimate partners." - Mitigating & Aggravating Factors
