I am a health and safety professional of over 36 years standing. I continue to work as a practitioner, advising businesses on practical health and safety matters. This experience underpins my expert witness service.
I have an unparalleled experience of risk assessment, in all its flavours. I have been involved in projects for a wide range of businesses large and small. My roles have included adviser, project leader, editor, trainer and expert witness. Clients have included food manufacturers, NHS health trusts, defence establishments, engineering companies and independent schools. Activities have been as varied as salad washing through DIY retailing to the repair of submarines.
Sadly I have had to deal with many serious and fatal accidents, from first investigation through analysis to the provision of professional opinions on them. These, for example, have included three fatal accidents plus others involving fork lift trucks, falls, stock falling from racking and loads from cranes and machinery cases.
I consider my expertise to cover the whole scope of the Health and Safety at Work Act and its subsidiary legislation and also general fire safety matters in employment sectors such as: retailing, food and drink manufacture, hospitality, property management and maintenance, general manufacturing (e.g. engineering, electronics, printing, foundries), public services such as education and health care.
