- A 14-year-old male, who had been reported as missing, was discoverd, by police, in a blue Ford Escort van dragged from the River Derwent. The court heard that the 14-year-old had taken the vehicle without consent and Berridge, along with his co-defendant, admitted being carried in that vehicle. Following the crash they did not call the police to inform them that the 14-year-old was inside the van and it was 12 hours before an anonymous caller alerted police.
