- She was found guilty of child cruelty and attempting to inflict actual bodily harm after her
child suffered bruising, broken ribs and life-threatening injuries to her abdomen. The
victim underwent emergency surgery in hospital following the discovery of a (1cm) hole in
her stomach which had become infected. While the victim was recovering Vasey attempted to
tamper with the oxygen supply she was connected to. She said that she had believed the
child's bruises were accidental, but later blamed the childs father.
The judge said: 'After these events she became so ill her parents finally took her to hospital... The dedicated skill of hospital staff saved her from death." - Case Timeline
