The AGO helps the Law Officers perform other duties in the public interest, such as looking at sentences which may be too low.
Unduly Lenient Sentence scheme Some Crown Court sentences can be reconsidered at the Court of Appeal. Any member of the public may contact the Attorney General, or the CPS directly, if they have concerns that a sentence is unduly lenient - they do not have to be involved in the case. You can find more information and contact the Attorney General here: https://www.gov.uk/ask-crown-court-sentence-review The Attorney General is responsible for referring Crown Court sentences to the Court of Appeal if he believes that a sentence may be unduly lenient.
